USA / Canada Tariffs

USA / Canada Tariffs

New import tariffs (customs/duty fees) announced by the American government may soon be charged on some products shipped into the USA from Canada, where we are based. Here are the most important points:

Please be aware that any charging of cross-border fees is completely beyond our control; by making a purchase the buyer accepts all responsibility for any additional costs charged upon receiving their order. See customs info in our shipping policy for more details. Some state taxes and/or occasional private carrier fees (e.g. redirection requested, address error correction, etc.) may still be charged upon delivery regardless; these costs are also beyond our control.

Postal Services Temporarily Affected

We have temporarily disabled postal service shipping options for the USA based on Canada Post's own recommendation, warning that their system is not yet set up to comply with new customs requirements by the American government. We expect they will be correcting this within the next couple of weeks. As soon as they are ready, we will reactivate these more preferably priced options. Meanwhile, we apologize for any inconvenience.

Customs/Duty Exemption Expiring

Shipments that arrive at your doorstep on or before August 29, 2025 will have existing de minimus exemptions applied across the board, meaning that orders below $800 won't be subject to ANY tariffs whatsoever. After the 29th, you may or may not be charged duty upon receiving your order if it is currently in transit (see section below).

If you decide to refuse your shipment as a result of fees being charged, please be aware: we cannot refund your order until the parcel is returned to us, and shipping charges cannot be refunded (important details here).

Tariffs Only On USMCA/CUSMA Non-Compliant Goods

Only goods shipped to USA or Mexico that fall outside of the USMCA/CUSMA trade agreement ("non-compliant") will be tariffed. Our handmade goods are fully compliant, meaning that our products are made in Canada with a clear chain of component supply, and our detailed customs documentation follows the legal standards that will allow them through with NO duty being charged to you at any point.

However about 5% of our products are not handmade in Canada, so we expect duty fees on them to be about $2-$6 USD if shipped to the USA, depending on value. We are currently working to incorporate duty charges into our checkout, to comply with the new laws (duty must be paid in advance). Meanwhile, we have temporarily disabled purchase of these few items for USA customers until this process is complete.
