We are based in Canada but ship worldwide. Cost begins at about $2 CAD to Canada and $5 CAD to elsewhere. Regrettably, we cannot ship to Belarus, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Somalia and Syria due to Canada Customs export restrictions.

Parcels ship from Canada via Canada Post and UPS. Parcels are labelled from "Elaine Barrick / Art of Adornment". Please note that shipping costs are non-refundable
Tracking service is available with all shipping services except Lettermail, Light Packet and Small Packet (economy services), as well as Parcel Air. You may view your parcel's tracking number in our shipping confirmation email or login and view your Order History.
(South Vancouver, BC) Our studio is not open to the public, so pick-ups must occur elsewhere. We meet customers by appointment in East Vancouver at JJ Bean cafe, 2206 Commercial Drive @ E. 6th Avenue. To place an order for pick-up, select "Arrange Pick-Up" as your shipping method and choose PayPal Checkout or Interac E-Transfer as payment option (pick-ups arranged through our checkout must be paid in advance). Then email us suggesting a day and time to meet between 11am-8pm daily excl. holidays, allowing 1-2 days for processing. Note: fabric pouches, boxes, and other gift packaging is only included with shipped orders.
Add-Ons & Combined Shipments
Sorry, we cannot combine orders (more than one order shipped in the same parcel). For multiple items to be shipped together they must be paid in one transaction; more items cannot be added on afterward, nor can purchases from our other stores (Ebay, Etsy, etc.). It is actually often cheaper to ship different orders separately anyway, because shipping cost is determined by total parcel weight, not size. The heavier the parcel, the more likely it will jump into a higher weight/cost tier.
Sorry, we do not do backorders or take advance orders. If an item is out of stock it cannot be purchased until stock becomes available.
Parcel "Drop-Off" (If No One Home)
When a parcel is too big to fit in your mailbox and no one is home to receive the shipment in person, it must be taken to the nearest post office for storage until you can pick it up. Some people find this inconvenient and wish us to instruct postal services to leave the parcel at a side door, back porch, etc. however we cannot do this. Unsecured parcels risk being stolen or damaged, and insurance does not cover parcels left unsecured; also there is no space on our shipping labels to include such instructions anyhow.
Late or Lost Shipment
Be aware that shipping delays are common - a little patience goes a long way. Before assuming your parcel is lost, contact your nearest postal outlet to see if it is waiting for pick-up, since pick-up notices sometimes do not get sent out, or get misplaced. If 30 days have passed from the shipment date and you have still not received your parcel, please contact us. If you are shipping us a return which is overdue, see Returns.
Refused, Unclaimed or Return-To-Sender (RTS) Shipment
If you provide an incorrect address, refuse to accept the parcel, fail to pick up the parcel from the carrier, and/or it is sent back to us without there having been any error on our part, we must charge you the return shipping cost (the carrier charges us to send it back). Rates depend on parcel size and destination, starting between approx. $2-$6. Costs will fluctuate daily if you select a currency other than CAD $ due to live exchange rates. To calculate shipping rates, add an item to the cart and begin checkout. You are not obligated to buy.
Canadian Shipments via Lettermail:
Lettermail (economy) service is limited by very narrow size restrictions. Therefore, we reserve the right to split multiple item orders into 2 parcels at our discretion, in order to stay within size range and still offer the lowest possible rate.
Rate tiers are fewer, therefore cost jumps get more drastic as the parcel gets larger. When buying multiple items, shipping costs will often be lower overall by placing two small orders instead of one big one.
Business days are Mon-Fri excluding holidays. If order status is not updated to "shipped" on a business day before 4pm Pacific Time, the next business day is considered day #0 (example: if order shipped at 5:30pm PT on Friday, count delivery time with Monday as day #0, Tuesday as day #1, etc.). Remember that "Made To Order", "Special Order" and customized items take more time before ready to ship, see product listing for details. Tracking is not available with Lettermail, Light Packet and Small Packet (economy services) and Parcel Air. USA & International deliveries may be subject to delays at Customs.

Deliveries to urban centres are faster than to rural areas. Be aware that local conditions (extreme weather, labour disputes, Nov/Dec seasonal volume) and Customs clearance (USA & International deliveries) can cause delays. If tracking was not available with the service you chose and the parcel has not arrived within a few business days of the estimated time, first contact your local post office and ask if it waiting for pick-up (they may have been unable to notify you - this DOES happen!). If more than 30 days have passed from the shipment date and you have still not received your parcel, or if your order has been sent back to us "return-to-sender", see late/lost/RTS refunds.
We will gladly ship to any address that is not the same as your billing address (work, school, gift recipient, neighbor, etc.). However:
Protect Your Purchase - Ship Safely to a Different Address
Recommended when you ship to a non-billing address for ANY ONLINE PURCHASE, not just with us. Take a few seconds and guard against online fraud and processing delays wherever you shop:
Call phone number on back of card BEFORE purchase to add the address to your account (so they know it is not a thief using the card). You only need to add it once.
PayPal Balance Payments:
Add it as a "gift" address to your PayPal profile before purchase (or call 1-888-221-1161 or 1-402-935-2050). This proves you authorized this address. You only need to add it once.
Shipping Out-Of-Country and PayPal: Unfortunately PayPal does not allow all regisetred account holders to ship to countries different from their own. So although you may enter a foreign delivery address in our cart, PayPal may override it and force you to change it to your own country. To avoid this, try adding it as a "gift" address to your PayPal account before purchase (see PayPal Balance Payments above). If PayPal still rejects it, we have no choice but to ship to your country.
We ship from Canada. For many customers, this means your parcel must cross a border before it reaches you. If it does, your government's Customs agents may inspect the parcel which can sometimes result in delays and import fees. The recipient is solely responsible for any import taxes, brokerage or Customs fees charged upon delivery. If delivery of a shipment is refused because of these charges, the customer will be responsible for any costs incurred as a result of the parcel being rejected, including return shipping and handling.
Unfortunately we cannot predict how long or how much Customs may require. On rare occasions, parcels sent by economy services (Light/Small Packet) have been delayed by a week or more beyond the estimated time. Please understand that this is beyond our control. **Italy, Middle East, Africa, Asia: economy services often delayed by 1-4 more weeks.
Gift Shipments & Customs
Recipients of gift shipments are not usually charged import fees or tax, so it may seem desirable to have us declare all shipments as gifts. However "gift" is a Customs declaration defined for merchants as "a parcel sent to a name and address different from the customer's" (which proves that no one at the receiving address paid us for it). By federal law we can only declare your shipment as a gift if we ship it to an address and name different from your billing address and name. Also, we are required to declare the exact item price on the Customs form (see Declared Value below).
Sorry, we cannot declare the value of a parcel's contents on the Customs form as less than the actual price, so there is no point in asking us to. There are two reasons:
The fact that other businesses may lie to Customs for you does not concern us (we will not "jump off a bridge" because another shop did). It is not a legal or ethical business practice.
At least one of two express services (Canada Post "Priority" or UPS "Express") are available to most destinations worldwide. Both include insurance and tracking. To calculate rates, add an item to the cart and begin Check Out (you are not obligated to buy). Please note we cannot change shipping services after order is placed.
"Priority" & "Express" Service Conditions/Exclusions
We are not currently able to offer service via any carriers other than UPS and postal service. If you prefer a different carrier, you can arrange to have them pick up your order from our studio and have them bill you directly for shipping costs. Please contact us before purchase to make arrangements.
