General Information
All
parcels ship from Canada via Canada Post and include insurance. Parcels
are labelled from "E Barrick / Art of Adornment".
Gloves,
Hosiery
and other clothing-type items will be described on the Customs
form as simply "clothing". Please note that shipping
costs are NON-REFUNDABLE.
Parcel Tracking
Tracking service is available to all destinations worldwide with all shipping services except with Small Packet Air (an economy service available to non-Canadian addresses only).
After your parcel has shipped we will email you the tracking number. If you do not receive an email, check your spam/junk mail folder or login to your account and check your Order History (view order details).
Remember that tracking service is only as good as the mail carrier scanning the bar code on the parcel - often to addresses outside Canada,
once the parcel has entered the destination country very few scans are made. Track your parcel at the Canada Post website.
Insurance
All orders are shipped fully insured at no extra cost to the customer. Please note that insurance does not cover loss or damage to unattended parcels, therefore we cannot ask the Postal Service to leave the parcel at a side door (etc.)
if no one is home to receive it. Instead, have us ship it to an alternate address (work, shool, neighbor, superintendent, etc.) if picking it up from the post office is inconvenient.
Pick-Up
(Downtown Vancouver BC only) Pick-up orders cannot be placed via the online shopping cart. Contact us with your full name, telephone number, the
items you wish to purchase (include item #'s), whether you wish to pay cash in person or in advance via credit card/PayPal, and a suggested day/time for pick-up within the next 7 days. We will email
you an invoice with your total within 24 hours. Please note that our studio is not open to the public so we must meet elsewhere (eg. coffee shop). If you cannot meet us downtown for pick-up or have already paid for your order via the online
cart we MUST ship.
Combined
Shipments & "Add-Ons"
To save on shipping costs, multiple items must be paid in one single transaction - separate transactions must be shipped separately.
Ebay orders must be paid in full at Ebay, and online store orders must be paid in full the online store. Sorry, purchases from both cannot be combined together, nor items "added on" after payment has been received.
Our shipping system is automatically integrated, therefore once an order has been placed and paid for it cannot be combined with any others.
Return-To-Sender
("RTS") Shipment If your parcel is returned-to-sender (RTS) due to no error on our part,
in order to re-ship we must bill you for the RTS shipping cost as well as the cost to ship it out again (unfortunately Canada Post charges to send it back to us). We can cancel your order for you
if you prefer us not to re-send it, however ALL SHIPPING COSTS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE and the return shipping cost will be deducted from the order value (total before shipping and tax) - you will be refunded the balance, if any. Always double-check your
shipping address before you confirm your order to avoid potential mishaps!
Parcel "Drop-Off" If No One Home
When a parcel is too big to fit in the mailbox and no one is home to receive the shipment in person, it must be taken
to the nearest post office for storage until you can pick it up. Some people find this inconvenient and wish us to instruct postal services to leave the parcel at a side door, back porch, etc. Unfortunately
we cannot do this. Unattended parcels risk being stolen or damaged and insurance does not cover parcels left unattended (additionally, there is no space on our shipping labels to include such instructions
anyhow). Have us ship it to an alternate address instead.

Rates & Delivery
Time
All parcels ship from Canada via Canada Post. Please note that
parcel tracking is not available with Small Packet Air (an economy service available to addresses outside Canada only).
Worldwide
Rates
Rates vary depending on parcel size, parcel weight, and country (starting between $5-$12 USD depending on destination).
They fluctuate slightly from day to day since they are provided live from Canada Post based in $CAD and are affected by daily currency conversion rates.

Delivery Time
Weekdays (Mon-Fri excluding holidays)
count from first weekday (day "0") after payment clears. "Made To Order", "Special Order" and customized
items may take a few days before ready to ship (see product listing). If the delivery address is outside Canada, see important Customs info.
Estimated Delivery Times
Within Canada: Expedited approx. 2-8 weekdays, XpressPost approx. 2-4 weekdays, Priority approx. 1-2 weekdays (often next-day)
To USA: Small Packet Air and Expedited approx. 5-10 weekdays, XpressPost approx. 3-5 weekdays
To USA [PO Boxes and Military APO/FPO only]: all services approx. 10-20 weekdays
To All Other International: Small Packet Air and Air Parcel approx. 6-12 weekdays, XpressPost approx. 4-7 weekdays

We recommend XpressPost or Priority. Please note we cannot change shipping service for your order once it has been placed.
Overdue
Shipment?
Deliveries to major urban centres are faster
than to less populated areas. Be aware that local conditions (extreme weather, labour disputes, Nov/Dec seasonal volume) can cause delays. However if the parcel has not
arrived within the estimated time, first contact your post
office since it may be waiting for pick-up - they may have been
unable to notify you. Remember that delays at Customs are common (non-Canadian shipments) and in very rare instances can add a week or more to your estimated delivery time - a little patience goes a long way. If you have still not received it
after 30 days, contact us. If it has not arrived within
45 days we can open an insurance/refund claim for you, or
if possible send a replacement item.

Non-Billing/Gift Address
We
will gladly ship to any address that is not the same as your billing address (work, school, gift recipient, neighbor, etc.). However:
* You MUST add it to your Address Book first and select it as delivery address during Check Out.
If you do not, we will only ship to the address provided with your PayPal payment.
* You should inform the recipient that a parcel from Art of Adornment is coming so they will accept it!
* Shipping to an address outside Canada? See important Customs info.
* Shipping a gift to a country different than yours? If you have a PayPal account, you must add the address to your PayPal profile (or call 1-888-221-1161 or 1-402-935-2050) before purchase.
Protecting
Your Purchase
Recommended when you ship to a non-billing address for ANY ONLINE PURCHASE, not just with us! These tips will help you guard against online fraud and processing delays wherever you shop.
Credit
Card (via PayPal) Payments: Call 24-hour number on back of card BEFORE purchase and add the new address
to your account so they will know it is not a thief using the card.
Once you have added the address you will not need to again.
PayPal or HyperWallet
Account Balance Payments: If you are shipping direct to a country different than your own, you are required to add the address to your PayPal profile before purchase (see section above). We recommend you
do so regardless, as it is an excellent safety precaution should an issue ever arise.
Return-To-Sender
("RTS") Gift Shipment
If

Customs
If
the delivery address is located outside Canada, be aware that the
Customs Office may hold the parcel for inspection which can
cause delays. This is totally at the discretion of the postal service and we can in no way guarantee if your parcel will be held up at Customs or not, or for how long (it is usually only a couple of days though). The recipient is solely responsible for any import
taxes, brokerage or Customs fees charged upon delivery.
Gifts
We
can only declare your purchase as a "gift" on
the Customs label if we are shipping it direct to someone who
did not pay for the order and who does not live at the billing
address, AND if you have also included an unpriced gift receipt.
Also, we are required by law to declare the exact item
value on the Customs form. If you think this may spoil
the surprise, you should not have your purchase shipped direct
to a gift recipient.
Declared
Value
Sorry, we will NOT declare the value of the parcel contents
on the Customs form as less than the actual item value, so there is no point in asking us to. There are two reasons:
1.)
It is illegal. Mail fraud is a federal offence.
2.)
The parcel is insured only for the value declared. If your $100 order got lost in transit and we had declared it as worth $20,
you could only get a $20 refund since that is the amount Canada Post would reimburse you.
The
fact that other businesses may lie to Customs for you does
not concern us (we will not "jump off a bridge"
because another store did). It is not a legal or ethical business practice.

Express Shipping
At least one of two express services ("Priority" or "XpressPost")
are available to most destinations world wide. Both include insurance and tracking. To preview rates, add an item to the cart and begin Check Out (you will be asked to confirm before processing
payment). Our shipping system is automated with Canada Post, therefore EXPRESS SHIPPING MUST BE PURCHASED AT THE SAME TIME AS THE ORDER.
Priority and XpressPost Service Conditions/Exclusions
* Delivery times quoted are from the day the order is ready to ship. Note that "Special Order", "Made to Order" and
customized items take extra time before they can be shipped
* Service does not apply to any PO boxes, military APO/FPO addresses or forwarded mail. Your parcel may not arrive any faster than other services.
* Telephone number of destination address is REQUIRED (write in "Order Notes" box during Check Out)
* Addresses outside Canada: Customs office may hold parcel for inspection which can cause delays
* Parcel cannot be "dropped off" (eg. left at side door)
Priority Overnight/2-3 Day Service And Private Carriers
Overnight/2-3 day service to non-Canadian addresses is not available at this time. Priority service outside Canada is only offered through private carriers (UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc.).
We do not deal with these carriers because they do not ship to all locations worldwide, they charge unreasonable brokerage and processing fees on international shipments,
require large amounts of paperwork on behalf of the merchant, and restrict items containing precious metals,
crystal, and semi-precious stones (what many of our products contain). Until those conditions change we will only ship using services offered through Canada Post.
