General Information
All
parcels ship from Canada via Canada Post and include insurance. Parcels
are labelled from "E Barrick / Art of Adornment".
Gloves,
Hosiery
and other clothing-type items will be described on the Customs
form as simply "clothing". Please note that shipping
costs are NON-REFUNDABLE.
Parcel Tracking
Tracking service is available to all destinations worldwide with all shipping services except with
Small Packet Air (an economy service available to non-Canadian addresses only). After your parcel has shipped we will email you the tracking number. You can also login to your
account and view updates in your Order History.
Insurance All orders are shipped
fully insured for loss or damage at no extra cost to the customer.
Pick-Up
(Downtown Vancouver BC only) Our studio is not open to the public so pick-ups must occur elsewhere, for example at a coffee shop. To place an order for pick-up,
first select $CAD as your currency in the left-hand menu. Select "Arrange Pick-Up" as your shipping method and choose a payment option. You may pay in advance by credit/debit card or
in cash upon pick-up (exact change). When you have completed checkout, email us immediately with a suggested day/time for pick-up in downtown Vancouver (allow approx. 2 days for
order processing before we can meet you). We will email you within 24 hours to confirm. Note: items for cash pick-up will only be reserved for 7 days - if pick-up is not arranged
within that time the order will be cancelled.
Add-Ons, Backorders & Combined
Shipments
We do not do backorders (hold orders to wait for stock, or reserve items in advance). If an item is out of stock it cannot
be purchased until stock becomes available. For multiple items to be shipped together they must be paid in one transaction; more items cannot be added on, nor different orders combined
(Ebay orders must be processed at Ebay, and online store orders must be processed here). Our shipping system is automatically integrated with our checkout, therefore
once an order has been placed it cannot be combined with any others.
Parcel "Drop-Off" If No One
Home
When a parcel is too big to fit in the mailbox and no one is home to receive the shipment in person, it must be
taken to the nearest post office for storage until you can pick it up. Some people find this inconvenient and wish us to instruct postal services to leave the parcel at a side door, back porch, etc.
however we cannot do this. Unsecured parcels risk being stolen or damaged, and insurance does not cover parcels left intentionally unattended (also there is no space on our shipping labels to
include such instructions anyhow).
Lost Shipment
Be aware that Customs inspection, seasonal Nov/Dec volume, labour disputes and poor weather
conditions can cause delays - a little patience goes a long way. Also, pick-up notices sometimes get misplaced - before assuming the parcel is lost, contact the nearest postal outlet to check if
it is waiting for pickup. If more than 30 days have passed from the shipment date and you have still not received your parcel, see Refunds.
Refused/Rejected or Return-To-Sender
Shipment Once an order has shipped it is considered to be a completed transaction
and is subject to our standard return policy. If you have provided us with an incorrect address, refuse a shipment, or fail to claim a package from the carrier and it is sent back to us, you will be
charged the return shipping cost. See Refunds for full details.

Rates & Delivery Time
Parcels ship from Canada via Canada Post. Please note that
parcel tracking is not available with Small Packet Air (an economy service available to addresses outside Canada only).
Worldwide Rates
Rates depend on parcel size and destination (starting between $6-$12 USD). They fluctuate daily
since they are provided live from Canada Post based in $CAD and are affected by currency exchange rates. To calculate your rate, add an item to the cart and begin Check Out -
rates and options display automatically. You are not obligated to buy.
International Shipments: (USA, Europe, etc.) when buying
multiple items it may be cheaper to split them up, placing two small orders instead of one large one. The bigger the box, the higher the cost.
Estimated
Delivery Time
Weekdays (Mon-Fri excluding
holidays) count from first weekday after payment is received. Estimates for USA and International are
for how long the parcel will take to reach Customs inspection (delivery may take a few more days). "Made To Order",
"Special Order" and customized items take more time before ready to ship (see product listing). Please note: Small Packet Air
is an economy service and tracking is not available.
Canada: Expedited approx. 2-7 weekdays, XpressPost 1-3 weekdays, Priority next weekday
USA: Small Packet & Expedited approx. 4-10 weekdays to Customs, XpressPost 2-3 weekdays to Customs
USA Military APO/FPO only: all services approx. 10-20 weekdays
Other International: Small Packet & Air Parcel approx. 6-10 weekdays to Customs, XpressPost 4-7 weekdays to Customs
Check your calendar! Need your order by a specific date? We recommend XpressPost (it has priority at Customs).
Please note we cannot change services after order has been placed.
Overdue Shipment?
Deliveries to major urban centres are faster than to less populated areas. Be aware that local conditions (extreme weather, labour disputes, Nov/Dec seasonal volume) and
Customs clearance (USA & Overseas deliveries) can cause delays. If the parcel has not arrived within a few weekdays of the
estimated time, first contact your local post office to see if it waiting for pick-up (they may have been unable to notify you - this DOES happen!). If more than 30 days have passed from the
shipment date and you have still not received your parcel, or if your order has been sent back to us "return-to-sender",
see Refunds.

Non-Billing/Gift Address
We will gladly ship to any address that is not the same as your billing address (work, school, gift
recipient, neighbor, etc.). However:
* You MUST add it to your Address Book first and select it as delivery address
during Check Out.
* You should inform the recipient that a parcel from Art of Adornment is coming so they will accept it!
* Shipping to an address outside Canada? See important Customs info.
* Add the address as a "gift" address to your payment source account before purchase (see below).
Protecting Your Purchase - Ship Safely to a Different Address
Recommended when you ship to a non-billing address for ANY ONLINE PURCHASE, not just with us. Here is how to guard against online fraud and processing delays wherever you shop:
Credit/Debit Card Payments: Call
24-hour phone number on back of card BEFORE purchase to add the address to your account (so they will know it is not a thief using the card). Once you have added it you will not need
to again.
PayPal Account Balance Payments: Add the
address as a "gift" address to your PayPal profile before purchase (or call 1-888-221-1161 or 1-402-935-2050). This lets PayPal know that you have authorized this address. Once you
have added it you will not need to again.
Shipping Out-Of-Country and PayPal: Unfortunately the PayPal checkout does not allow
all registered account holders to ship to a country different than their own (we are unsure why). So although you may enter a foreign shipping address in our cart, PayPal may override it and
force you back to our cart to change it to one of your own country. To avoid this conflict, try adding the address as a "gift" address to your PayPal account before purchase
(see PayPal Account Balance Payments above). If PayPal still rejects it, we have no choice but to ship within your country.

Customs
We ship from Canada. For many customers, this means your parcel must cross a border before
it reaches you. If it does, your country's Customs agents may inspect the parcel which can sometimes result in delays and import fees. The recipient is solely responsible for any
import taxes or Customs fees charged upon delivery. If delivery of a shipment is refused because of these charges, the customer will be responsible for any costs incurred as a result
of the parcel being rejected, including return shipping and handling costs.
Unfortunately we cannot predict if, how much, or how long Customs
may require. Usually delivery to your door is another 1-3 days in addition to the delivery time we quote. On rare occasions though, parcels sent by Small Packet, Expedited,
and International Air have been delayed by a week or more (we recommend XpressPost if delivery is time-sensitive, it has priority). This is why we quote delivery time to Customs, not
your door - a little patience with them goes a long way.
Gift Shipments & Customs
A gift shipment is a parcel sent from one address (ours) to another
(recipient's) where the recipient's address has not supplied money to the sender's address for the item. Therefore we can only declare your shipment as a gift if we
ship it to an address different from your billing address, and if you have requested an unpriced gift receipt
(which proves to any Customs agent inspecting the parcel that it is a gift). Also, we are required by law to declare the exact item value on the Customs form. If you think
this may spoil the surprise, you should not ship direct to a gift recipient.
Declared Value Sorry, we will NOT declare the value of the parcel contents on the Customs form as less than the actual item value, so there is no point in
asking us to. There are two reasons:
1.) It is illegal. Mail fraud is a federal offence.
2.) The parcel is insured only for the value declared. If your $100
order got lost in transit and we had declared it as worth $20, you could only get a $20 refund since that is the amount Canada Post would reimburse you.
The fact that other businesses may lie to Customs for you does not concern us (we will not
"jump off a bridge" because another store did). It is not a legal or ethical business practice.

Express Shipping
At least one of two express services ("Priority" or "XpressPost") are available to most destinations worldwide.
Both include insurance and tracking. To calculate rates, add an item to the cart and begin Check Out (you are not obligated to buy). Rates display automatically based on address provided. Please
note we cannot change shipping services after order is placed.
Priority and XpressPost Service Conditions/Exclusions
* "Special Order", "Made to Order" and customized items take extra time (see item listings)
* Service does not apply to military APO/FPO addresses or forwarded mail
* Providing telephone number of destination recommended (type in "Order Notes" box in checkout)
* Delivery address outside Canada: Customs office may hold parcel for inspection approx. 1-2 weekdays
* Parcel cannot be "dropped off" (eg. left at side door)
Priority/Overnight Service And Private Carriers We are not currently able to offer
Priority/Overnight to non-Canadian addresses. Priority service outside Canada is only available through private carriers (UPS, FedEx, etc.). We do not deal with private carriers because they do not ship
to all locations worldwide, charge international recipients ridiculously high brokerage and Customs fees, require extensive paperwork from us on international shipments, and/or will not accept shipments
containing items made of precious metals, crystal, and semi-precious stones (what many of our products contain). Until those conditions change we will only ship using services available from Canada
Post.
